Just a transplant, sharing what I learn as I go.
I left a big city to come to Des Moines, and when I tell people where I am from, I inevitably get the question, "Why?!"
Why leave the big city most people dream of living in to come to Des Moines?
Having answered this question almost a hundred times now, I have started to shift my answer. I used to mostly focus on why I left that city. Now, my focus is on why I came to Des Moines.
It's simple. The Des Moines Metro has so much to offer.
Enormous farmers' markets, tulip festivals, an impressive state fair, a plethora of adult sports leagues, theme parks, concerts, a fiery rivalry between two extremely great universities, and enough other activities and events to entertain a vast array of interests. You add to that the hospitality of the Midwestern communities here, and you've got a pretty great place to live.
So my goal for this page is to provide existing and upcoming DSM residents with ways to plug in, learn, and explore this beautiful Midwestern area.
